Wesley Campbell, better known by his stage name Wild Wes, is an American rapper who was once a signee and

executive of Icy Records.

Career

Wes started his career in October 2018 by releasing the single Do It from his debut mixtape Wild Wes. On March 1st of 2019, he signed to the record label Flex Entertainment.

In March 2019, he released Wild Wes (the self-titled mixtape) and Wild Wes 2 in the same month. The tapes were met with negative reviews, with some mixed. Since this was early in Wes' career, his boom-bap sound was slightly unique, but it would get stale and more dreadful to listen to later when he would milk releases to the ground after taking the break he took from June to July. In fact, Wes released more in a year than The Beatles did in 6 years.

For his debut studio album The New Funk, Wes released 2 singles, Sam's Diss featuring Lil Smardy, & New Funk. After dropping We're Just Getting Started & You Know Why, he released The New Funk in late May 2019. A deluxe edition followed in early June 2019.

After releasing a compilation album & the mixtape with older and new songs, Satisfaction Guaranteed, Wes released the single I'm Bringin' It featuring CRZFawkz as the lead single to his second album, Bringdawildback. After dropping a few more singles, he released Bringdawildback in mid-August 2019. After that, he released another mixtape titled Wildimatic.

After releasing several singles in September & October 2019, Wes released his third studio album The New Funk 2 late October 2019. The album was criticized for it's long length, as well as sounding pretty much the same as his previous work.

In late November 2019, Wes dropped another album titled W.I.L.D Wes, (not to be confused with his self-titled mixtape), which has the best score of any of his albums on music review site Album of The Year, which is where most of his reception comes from.

In December 2019, he founded the label Icy Records with MC Icy & E.M.B.E.E, and later in the month he dropped a single and music video titled One For Da Ages, (Now deleted, although reuploaded) which was also critically panned for sounding like his older work and for it's poorly shot music video.

As of February 2019, Wild Wes has stated he has quit music, (or supposedly) however Tracks For Da Ages was released on March 6th, 2020. It features One For Da Ages, despite it being removed from YouTube.

Reception

Just about every single project Wild Wes has released was panned by critics alike on AlbumOfTheYear and RateYourMusic.

Controversy

Wes is no doubt the causer of many controversies.

The first controversy is him putting Satisfaction Guaranteed on the Best Music & Songs Wikia, claiming it to be really good. It was taken off the site a few days later, and Wes was warned. (This would contribute to him being banned from the Horrible Music Wikia as well)

The second controversy is Wes posting many unreleased / nonexistent albums of his to Album of The Year, which almost got all Flex releases completely removed from the website due to his albums oversaturating the new releases section.

The third controversy is Wild Wes getting in multiple beefs with the Flex Entertainment Fan Discord Server. After being told how to improve on the server, with actual constructive criticism, he took to YouTube to record a rant video titled "Problems". This isn't the first time he did rants, as he did multiple videos about hate comments on his channel. However, it didn't stop there. Wes started leaving and re-entering the fan server many times after having many short beefs within the server. Instances include him saying, "You know what? Fuck y'all" and "You are all just haters" (Direct quotes from the search log on the Discord server). Wes would apologize after his small beefs, however he would just do it again anyways. He regrets doing all of this. In fact, this is what caused every single Flex Entertainment artist to despise Wild Wes due to his decisions.

Due to all of the controversy surrounding Wes, he was kicked from Icy Records by MC Icy & E.M.B.E.E in February 2020. Wes started making overblown conclusions, saying MC Icy had betrayed him and other things. However, this was simply not true, and Icy and E.M.B.E.E were simply trying to improve the reputation of their label, as Wes has a lot of negative stigma surrounding his name.

The fourth controversy is Wes being banned from Horrible Music Wikia. Due to him putting many biased redeeming qualities on his page, and also for putting Satisfaction Guaranteed on the sister wiki, Best Music Wikia, he was banned from the Horrible Music Wikia. In many now-deleted tweets, he would bash Horrible Music Wiki for being "trash". On his article on the Flex wiki, he also called the wiki trash as well, which he now regrets saying.
